Ghana’s national football team, the Black Stars, will receive a significant financial injection of $2.5 million from FIFA to support their preparations for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup. Sports and Recreation Minister Kofi Adams announced the funding, which is designated to cover essential pre-tournament activities for all qualified nations.
Financial Framework for World Cup Readiness
The substantial FIFA allocation is earmarked for critical logistical and developmental aspects of the Black Stars’ campaign. This includes funding for intensive training camps, strategic international friendly matches, comprehensive travel arrangements, and other necessary logistical requirements to ensure the team is optimally prepared for the global stage.
Minister Adams emphasized a commitment to stringent financial oversight. He stated that the Ghana Football Association (GFA) will be held accountable for meticulously documenting all expenditures related to the World Cup preparations, ensuring transparency and proper utilization of the funds.
