Ghanaian Businesses Unite in Landmark Initiative to Plant 100,000 Trees

The 100,000 Trees for Ghana Initiative was formally launched on Monday, May 11, 2026, in the Dagbon Traditional Area of Ghana’s Northern Region. This significant event, organized by Tree Aid in partnership with Nviron Hive, saw farmers, community leaders, and government representatives convene to address Ghana’s escalating forest crisis through a privately-led effort.

Addressing a National Crisis

Ghana faces an alarming rate of deforestation, losing an estimated 315,000 hectares of forest annually. The Yendi launch signifies a structured, funded, and accountable program designed to combat this crisis. The initiative aims to plant 100,000 trees and regenerate an additional 100,000 hectares through assisted natural regeneration across 1,300 hectares spanning ten communities in the Yendi Municipality.
