Accra, Ghana – Wednesday, May 27, 2015 – Ghana’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, met with Ghanaian citizens evacuated from South Africa at the Accra International Airport, urging them to maintain hope and assuring them of government support for their reintegration. The arrivals follow a wave of xenophobic attacks that prompted an emergency evacuation effort.

The evacuations were necessitated by escalating xenophobic violence in South Africa, which targeted foreign nationals, including many Ghanaians.
