Accra, Ghana – May 31, 2026 – Samuel Nartey George, a principal sponsor of the Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill, 2025, has firmly rejected calls from Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin to reconsider the recently passed legislation. George, who is also the Minister for Communications, Digital Technology and Innovation, asserted that Parliament has concluded its constitutional duties regarding the bill and it must now proceed to the President for assent.

Speaking at the 4th African Inter-Parliamentary Conference on Family Sovereignty and Values, George clarified that Parliament operates under strict rules and is not an appellate body.
