Ghanaian Nursing Association Denounces Alleged Extortion of Students

Samuel Alagkora Akolgo, First Vice President of the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA), has vehemently condemned allegations of ward managers demanding money from nursing students in exchange for endorsing their clinical logbooks. The issue came to light during an International Women’s Day seminar held in Pusu-Namongo, Talensi District, where Akolgo addressed the attendees.

Unethical Practice Exposed

Mr. Akolgo described the alleged practice as unethical and detrimental to the nursing profession’s reputation. He emphasized that senior professionals, who are meant to mentor and guide students, should not exploit them financially. This exploitation adds further strain to the already challenging financial situations faced by many trainee nurses and midwives.
