Ghanaian Sports Leaders Call for Unity to Boost Investment and Global Image

Accra, Ghana – At the official launch of the Countdown to the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Accra, Samson Deen, President of the African Paralympic Committee (AfPC), issued a compelling plea for national unity and a positive re-branding of Ghana’s sports sector. Deen emphasized that collective effort from athletes, administrators, media, corporations, government, and the public is crucial to transforming sports into a national asset that can attract investment, create opportunities, and enhance the country’s international standing.

The Challenge of Negativity

Mr. Deen highlighted that persistent negativity, internal disputes, and excessive criticism within the sports ecosystem are actively hindering efforts to attract vital private-sector investment and corporate sponsorship. He articulated that such an environment makes it difficult for potential investors to recognize the existing opportunities within Ghana’s sporting landscape.
