Ghana’s Tourism Minister Advocates for Urgent Investment in Creative Sector

Accra, Ghana – Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, has urgently called for increased investment in Ghana’s vibrant creative industry. Speaking during a recent meeting with the renowned Harmonious Chorale, the Minister emphasized the critical need to recognize creative professionals as significant contributors to national development and crucial players in cultural diplomacy. This plea comes amid persistent challenges of inadequate corporate sponsorship and support for artists, particularly those in specialised fields like choral music and children’s entertainment.

Addressing a Funding Gap

The Minister highlighted a concerning disparity: while Ghana possesses immense creative talent, many artists struggle for both recognition and essential financial backing. This lack of support hinders their ability to produce high-quality work and fully contribute to the nation’s economy and global image.
