Greater Accra Minister Apologizes for ‘Northern Posting’ Remark

Greater Accra Regional Minister, Linda Ocloo, issued a public apology on [Date of statement, e.g., Tuesday] after facing significant backlash for comments suggesting that assignments to northern Ghana could be viewed as a punitive measure. Context of the Remarks

Minister Ocloo’s comments arose in response to a media inquiry regarding allegations of impropriety in the issuance of development permits. She was reportedly explaining how technocrats involved in alleged due process violations are sometimes reassigned to nearby districts, allowing the practices to continue.

In an effort to illustrate how some public officials are transferred to locations far from their usual residences, the Minister stated, her choice of words inadvertently created an impression that such postings were undesirable or punitive.
