Over 1,200 teachers and education staff in the Ketu North Constituency are participating in a comprehensive Continuous Professional Development (CPD) workshop that commenced on May 18, 2026. The initiative, sponsored by Member of Parliament Eric Edem Agbana, aims to meet national CPD requirements and enhance teaching quality across basic, senior high, and administrative levels within the constituency.
National Mandate Drives Teacher Development
The workshop directly addresses the National Teaching Council’s mandate, which requires all teachers to earn 20 CPD points annually. This includes specialized training components designed to keep educators abreast of modern pedagogical approaches and administrative best practices.
The program is crucial for ensuring teachers meet these evolving professional standards. It provides a structured pathway for educators to gain the necessary credits while simultaneously upgrading their skills.
Comprehensive Training for Diverse Educational Roles
Delivered by accredited training provider Bismark Tay Leadership Solutions (BTLS), the workshop offers tailored modules for different educational roles. Basic school teachers are focusing on practical classroom management techniques, positive discipline strategies, and effective learner assessment, including test-item preparation.
Senior high school teachers are receiving specialized training on integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into their teaching methodologies. This module aims to equip them with the tools to leverage AI for enhanced learning experiences and more efficient instructional delivery.
Administrative and education office staff are not left out, with dedicated sessions on educational leadership and people management. The goal is to foster greater institutional efficiency and improve the overall functioning of the education directorate.
MP’s Commitment to Educational Transformation
Member of Parliament Eric Edem Agbana emphasized his dedication to education, stating that teachers are the bedrock of quality learning and community development. He views this workshop as a significant investment in securing the future of the constituency’s children.
“Teachers are the foundation of quality education and the transformation of our communities, and this investment is about securing the future of our children,” Agbana remarked during the launch.
He urged participants to engage seriously with the training, highlighting the long-term benefits. “By empowering our educators, we are building a stronger constituency for generations to come,” he added.
Workshop Schedule and Future Implications
The CPD sessions are strategically scheduled throughout May and early June 2026. Basic school teachers attend from May 18–22 and June 1, 2026. Senior high school teachers’ sessions run from June 2–5, 2026, followed by administrative staff training on June 10, 2026.
This intensive training initiative signals a proactive approach to educational enhancement in Ketu North. By investing in continuous professional development, the constituency aims to elevate teaching standards, improve student performance, and foster a more skilled and adaptable education workforce. The integration of AI training for SHS teachers also positions the region to embrace technological advancements in education, setting a precedent for future development strategies.
