Kokomlemle Traffic Lights Restored After Years of Disrepair, Residents Demand Enforcement

Residents and road users in Kokomlemle, Accra, are celebrating the restoration of the Sadisco traffic lights after a prolonged period of malfunction, but are now urgently calling for strict enforcement of traffic laws to ensure safety and order at the previously hazardous intersection.

Years of Darkness, Years of Danger

The traffic signals at the Sadisco junction had been non-operational for an estimated four to six years, transforming the busy intersection into a notorious accident hotspot. During this time, the lack of regulation led to frequent collisions involving cars and motorbikes, resulting in injuries, fatalities, and damage to surrounding properties.

The absence of functioning traffic control created a chaotic environment, particularly during peak commuting hours. Motorists and pedestrians alike faced constant uncertainty as drivers attempted to navigate the junction based on personal judgment rather than clear signals.
