Accra, Ghana – Akwasi Attakora Asante, the Communications Officer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Abura Asebu Kwamankese Constituency, has strongly defended the development initiatives undertaken by the Mahama administration and the local Member of Parliament, Felix Kwakye Ofosu. Asante issued his defense following criticisms from the Minority Caucus during their recent tour, particularly addressing remarks attributed to the Caretaker Chief of Essandokrom, Nana Essandoh, who alleged a lack of visible development in the area. Asante asserts these claims are inaccurate and do not represent the ongoing progress within the constituency.
Defending Development Records
Speaking in direct response to the criticisms, Mr. Asante highlighted several significant infrastructure projects currently in progress under the current government’s tenure. He specifically pointed to the ongoing roadworks on the Abakrampa road, emphasizing that the contractor is actively engaged in constructing a robust road complete with gutters and other essential features.
“Since President Mahama’s administration came into office in the last year and five months, I don’t think Nana NPP travels on the Abakrampa road when he is travelling because the contractor is on the road working on it, and he is constructing a good road with gutters and all the necessary things,” Asante stated, suggesting that critics might not be observing the area’s progress firsthand.
Key Projects Underway
Beyond road infrastructure, Asante detailed other crucial development projects. These include the construction of a new hospital at Nyamedom, aimed at improving healthcare access for the community.
Additionally, a Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound is reportedly under construction at Abura Abeka. These healthcare facilities are part of a broader government commitment to enhancing public health services.
Furthermore, Asante mentioned ongoing school infrastructure projects. He attributed the execution of these educational development initiatives to the concerted efforts of the central government, the constituency Member of Parliament, and the District Chief Executive.
Constituents’ Testimony and Government Commitment
Mr. Asante asserted that the residents of Abura Asebu Kwamankese Constituency are already witnessing and can testify to the tangible development occurring across various communities. He stressed that the government remains steadfast in its commitment to improving critical sectors such as roads, healthcare, and education within the area.
He urged critics to acknowledge the projects currently being undertaken and to recognize the administration’s ongoing efforts rather than dismissing them outright. Asante’s statements underscore a political narrative emphasizing visible progress and ongoing investment in the constituency.
Looking Ahead: Continued Scrutiny and Development
The exchange highlights the ongoing political discourse surrounding development and governance in Ghana. As construction projects continue, the visibility and impact of these initiatives will likely remain a focal point for both constituents and political actors. Future reports will likely track the completion timelines and the tangible benefits these projects bring to the Abura Asebu Kwamankese Constituency and other regions across the nation.
