The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has launched a nationwide initiative called ‘STORM’ in Accra, Ghana, from April 15 to May 31, offering free registration and renewal for the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) and waiving the usual one-month waiting period for accessing healthcare services. This unprecedented move aims to significantly increase NHIS membership and ensure immediate healthcare access for all Ghanaians.
Nationwide Community Engagement
The ‘STORM’ initiative, unveiled by NHIA Chief Executive Officer Dr. Victor Asare Bampoe, involves deploying NHIA staff across the country. These teams will actively engage communities in markets, churches, mosques, transport hubs, and workplaces to raise awareness and facilitate enrollment.
