NPP National Chairman Hopeful Afoko Boosts Northern Regional Office Project with Significant Donation

Awentami Paul Afoko, a National Chairman hopeful for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has donated 400 bags of cement and GH¢30,000 to accelerate the construction of a new ultramodern NPP Northern Regional office in Tamale. The contribution addresses an urgent appeal from regional executives aimed at strengthening party structures and operational capacity ahead of the 2028 general elections.

Context of the Donation

The donation was made following a direct request from NPP regional executives during a recent consultative meeting in Tamale. They highlighted the critical need for a permanent, well-equipped party office to bolster the NPP’s presence and influence within the Northern Region. This initiative is viewed as a strategic move to enhance the party’s readiness for future electoral contests.

Strengthening Party Infrastructure

The planned multipurpose facility is designed to serve as a central hub for party activities, facilitating improved coordination and operational efficiency. This investment in infrastructure is seen as vital for rebuilding and consolidating the party’s base in the region. A strong regional office is expected to streamline communication, organize campaigns more effectively, and provide a dedicated space for party members and stakeholders.

Afoko’s Campaign and Vision

Presenting the donation on behalf of Afoko, Dr. Akisibadek Alekz Afoko emphasized the candidate’s commitment to the party’s growth. He urged supporters to back Afoko’s bid for National Chairman, positing that his leadership is key to the NPP’s ambition of regaining power from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in 2028. Afoko, who previously served as NPP National Chairman from 2014 to 2015, is campaigning under the banner of his “3R” agenda: Reunite, Rebuild, and Recapture.

Regional Executives Express Gratitude

Alhaji Abdul Rahman Sualihu Mahama, receiving the donation on behalf of Regional Chairman Mohammed Adam Baantima Samba, described the contribution as highly timely. He acknowledged that the donation would significantly advance the completion of the regional office project. Mahama encouraged Afoko to persist in his support for the party’s strategic objectives, particularly its electoral goals for 2028.

Implications for the NPP

This substantial donation underscores the importance of infrastructure development in the NPP’s broader strategy for electoral success. It highlights the role of key party figures in mobilizing resources to strengthen regional bases. For the Northern Region, a functional and modern office could translate into improved organizational capacity and a more visible party presence. The move also signals a proactive approach by aspiring national leaders to invest in grassroots support and regional party machinery. As the NPP prepares for future elections, such investments in infrastructure and organizational capacity will be closely watched as indicators of its readiness to compete effectively across all regions.
