Accra, Ghana – The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has implemented a significant internal restructuring, placing its newly elected party officers under the direct supervision of powerful committees that report to the National Council. This strategic shift, confirmed by Nana Akomea, Chairman of the party’s Communications Committee, aims to bolster the party’s organizational capacity and prepare it for the upcoming 2028 general elections.
Early Preparations for 2028
The decision to establish this new power structure comes as the NPP seeks to gain an early advantage in its campaign for the 2028 polls. This follows the party’s earlier decision to elect its flagbearer a full three years before the election date.
Nana Akomea addressed concerns about the timing of these committee formations, acknowledging that some within the party feel it might be too soon. He drew parallels to the initial criticism surrounding the early flagbearer elections.
