Obeng Scholarship Foundation Empowers KASSTECH Alumni with University Scholarships

The Obeng Scholarship Foundation recently awarded university scholarships to two former Kade Senior High Technical School (KASSTECH) students, Alexander Marfo Appiah and Kelvin Addo, during a presentation ceremony held at the school premises. The initiative aims to support academically gifted students facing financial challenges, enabling them to pursue higher education and realize their full potential.

Context of Support for Aspiring Students

The scholarship presentation underscored the critical role of financial aid in preventing bright students from dropping out due to economic hardships. This year’s recipients, Alexander Marfo Appiah and Kelvin Addo, were specifically recognized for their academic excellence and their previous participation in the National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ), where they represented KASSTECH with distinction.

Beneficiaries and Their Academic Pursuits

Alexander Marfo Appiah is currently furthering his education at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi, pursuing a degree in Biochemistry. Kelvin Addo is enrolled at the University of Energy and Natural Resources, where he is studying Civil Engineering.

The scholarship package provided by the Obeng Scholarship Foundation is comprehensive, covering essential expenses such as tuition fees, boarding costs, transportation, and a living allowance. Beyond financial assistance, the program includes mentorship support, designed to foster the personal and academic development of the beneficiaries throughout their university careers.

Foundation’s Mission and the Impact of Mentorship

Seraphine Dogbey, the Communications and Outreach Manager for the Obeng Scholarship Foundation, highlighted the foundation’s core mission during the event. She stated that numerous brilliant students across Ghana are at risk of discontinuing their education not due to a lack of intellect, but because of insufficient financial support.
