The Okaikwei North Municipal Assembly has deployed a round-the-clock task force to maintain order and prevent the return of roadside trading activities in Lapaz, following a recent successful decongestion exercise. This initiative aims to sustain improved pedestrian movement and traffic flow in the busy commercial area.
Sustaining Order in Lapaz
Municipal Chief Executive Christian Tetteh Badger announced the deployment on Monday, May 11, stating the task force’s primary role is to ensure traders do not reoccupy pavements and road shoulders. The assembly’s enforcement operation targeted these illegal trading spots to enhance public access and reduce congestion.
Mr. Badger observed that a significant majority of traders have complied with the assembly’s seven-day directive to relocate their wares. This compliance has led to noticeably freer movement for both pedestrians and vehicles in Lapaz.
