Professor Kofi Blay, Accomplished Academic and Devoted Father, Laid to Rest

A solemn requiem mass was held at the Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Cathedral, followed by interment at the Esiama Catholic Cemetery, for the late Professor Kofi Blay, who passed away at 86 after a brief illness. Professor Blay was the father of Judith Adjoba Blay, the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana National Gas Company (GNGC).

A Life of Service and Scholarship

The family of Professor Blay, in a heartfelt tribute, remembered him as a devout servant of God and a distinguished academic. His life’s work was dedicated to the intellectual and moral development of young people, shaping them into responsible citizens.

Professor Blay’s legacy extends through his accomplished children, notably Ms. Adjoba Blay, CEO of GNGC, and Madam Yaaba Blay, a respected lecturer in African Studies. His dedication to family and his role in fostering national development were highlighted during the service.

Community and Dignitary Attendance

The requiem mass drew a significant gathering of high-profile individuals from government, the energy sector, and academia. Attendees included Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, and John Jinapor, Minister for Energy and Green Transition.

Also present were notable figures such as George Sipa Yankey, former CEO of Ghana Gas Company, Kwamina Ahwoi, Blay Nyamekeh Armah, and Freddie Blay, former Member of Parliament for Ellembelle and past National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party. The presence of numerous dignitaries underscored Professor Blay’s impact and the respect he commanded within Ghanaian society.

Delivering the homily, the Very Reverend Father Francis Kofi Lemaire, Vicar-General of the Sekondi-Takoradi Diocese, drew upon the scripture:
