SSNIT's Digital Leap: Shifting Focus from Technology Investment to User Adoption

Accra, Ghana – The Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) has identified a significant shift in its primary operational challenge, moving from technological infrastructure to encouraging greater user adoption of its digital platforms. This change, highlighted by Director-General Kwasi Afresh Biney on Joy News’ PM Express Business Edition on Thursday, signifies a new phase for the pension scheme as it aims to fully leverage its investments in automation for faster and more convenient service delivery to Ghanaians.

The Automation Advantage

SSNIT has made substantial investments in automating its processes, a move that has demonstrably reduced the time it takes to process pension claims. Previously, these processes could take considerably longer, involving extensive manual checks and validations.

Mr. Biney explained that with the current automated systems, once all necessary documents are submitted, pension claims can be processed on average within seven days. This includes crucial steps like investigations, file retrieval, and validation, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
