WFP-Led Assessment Highlights Success of US-Funded School Feeding Programme in Northern Ghana

The World Food Programme (WFP), in partnership with the Government of Ghana and the United States Government, has concluded a comprehensive three-day field assessment in Northern Ghana, evaluating a vital school feeding programme that currently supports approximately 60,000 pupils. The mission, which visited schools in Tamale, Zebilla, and Gambaga, focused on the programme’s impact on education, nutrition, health, and local economies as its current operational cycle nears its end in June 2026.

Programme Overview and Mission Objectives

This significant intervention operates within 207 low-fee private schools, a testament to a collaborative effort involving the WFP, the Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP), the Ministry of Education, and other crucial stakeholders. The assessment aimed to gauge the initiative’s effectiveness and gather community feedback, with WFP Country Director Ms. Aurore Rusiga and Ghana School Feeding Programme National Coordinator Hajia Fati Forgor leading the delegation.
