The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced that all Junior High School (JHS) graduates who passed the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) will begin their Senior High School (SHS) and Technical School education on September 18, 2026, nationwide. This confirmation comes amidst speculation about potential placement challenges for some students.
Smooth Transition Ensured
In a statement released on Thursday, May 14, GES management extended congratulations to the successful BECE candidates. They assured the public that extensive preparations are in place to ensure a seamless transition for all students entering the secondary education system.
These preparations include bolstering infrastructure, enhancing facilities, and providing necessary administrative support across all SHS and Technical Schools. The goal is to accommodate the incoming cohort effectively.
Addressing Placement Concerns
GES explicitly addressed recent media reports suggesting that approximately 72,000 students might face placement issues. The service dismissed these claims as speculative and urged the public to disregard them.
