The structure gave way around 4:25 a.m. on Sunday, June 7, prompting an immediate deployment of the Ghana National Fire Service, Ghana Police Service, and Ghana Armed Forces.

Greater Accra Regional Minister Linda Ocloo confirmed that the immediate focus is on extricating victims from the debris. “Our priority is to get people out as quickly as possible,” she stated at the scene, acknowledging concerns over the delay in deploying heavy machinery.

Perhaps they were waiting for the operator or perhaps because it was raining. I don’t want to blame anybody because we are human,” she commented.
A significant presence of security and emergency personnel has been mobilized at the collapse site. “We have the men here. The military is here. The police is here. Everybody is also here. We have all the security apparatus here,” Minister Ocloo affirmed.
