Ishmael Kodzokpo Elected Treasurer of Canada-Ghana Chamber of Commerce

Ishmael Kodzokpo, CEO of JIK Management Advisory Africa Ltd, was elected Treasurer of the Canada Ghana Chamber of Commerce (CANCHAM) at its 2026 Annual General Meeting (AGM). This appointment follows his significant contributions as an Executive Council member and former ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) Chair over the past four years.

A Proven Leader Takes the Financial Helm

Mr. Kodzokpo’s election marks a significant step in his leadership journey within CANCHAM. His prior roles have equipped him with a deep understanding of the Chamber’s operational needs and strategic objectives. As CEO of JIK Management Advisory Africa, he brings extensive experience in guiding both multinational corporations and small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) across the African economic landscape.

His professional background is underscored by prestigious qualifications, including membership in the Institute of Directors (MIoD) and certification as a Management Consultant from the International Council of Management Consulting Institutes (ICMCI). These credentials highlight his commitment to professional excellence and robust governance practices.

Championing Governance and Growth

During his tenure as ESG Chair, Kodzokpo was a prominent voice advocating for strong governance principles and capacity building initiatives. He consistently pushed for the development of more resilient and effective organizational structures within the Chamber and its member base. His focus on these areas is seen as a direct precursor to his new financial responsibilities.

The move to Treasurer is viewed as a natural progression, aligning with his demonstrated dedication to enhancing institutional growth, expanding membership, and strengthening bilateral trade relations between Canada and Ghana. His approach is characterized by a clear and focused strategy aimed at tangible results.

Strategic Vision for Financial Stewardship

Following his election, Mr. Kodzokpo emphasized the critical role of governance in facilitating successful trade. “Governance is the bedrock of any successful trade corridor,” he stated. This principle will guide his financial management of the Chamber.

He expressed his honor in taking on the financial stewardship, stating, “Having led our ESG initiatives and served on the Executive Council, I am honored to manage the financial stewardship of the Chamber now and work with leadership to bring investment opportunities to our members.” His immediate priorities include leveraging his experience to identify and present investment opportunities to CANCHAM members.

Future Outlook and Implications

Kodzokpo’s commitment to “building capacity and ensuring that CANCHAM continues to operate at the highest level of professional excellence” signals a forward-looking agenda. His leadership in the Treasurer role is expected to enhance financial transparency and accountability, crucial elements for attracting and retaining foreign investment. This focus on sound financial management is vital for fostering a stable and attractive environment for Canadian businesses looking to engage with the Ghanaian market, and vice versa.

The Chamber’s strategic direction under its new Treasurer will likely emphasize initiatives that strengthen financial frameworks, support member growth through strategic investment, and further solidify the economic ties between the two nations. Stakeholders will be watching closely to see how Kodzokpo’s governance-focused approach translates into tangible financial strategies that benefit the entire CANCHAM membership and contribute to broader economic development.
